When referring to Acid Sulphate Soils generally means below 5metres AHD on the coast.

AHD or Australian Height Datum is a height that all other heights are set to so that a standard can be set.

Creeks

Creeks are often associated with Acid Mine Drainage and Acid Drainage from disturbed sulfidic muds.  They are the natural conduct for the drainage of these areas to the ocean.

Most disused mines eventually become flooded, the effluent discharge finding itself flowing along natural artificial creeks and watercourse.
